Y is for Yard work

We have been spending most of our Saturdays doing some yard work. Today is was definitely the warmest day so far, Nelson has already taken two showers! But we got some edging around our flower bed in the corner of the yard and got some mulch put down. We need to get some more mulch to finish things off but we are making progress!

Season Finale of LOST

Usually I do not get too excited about LOST because it scares me but tonight we watched the season finale with some friends so it was worth getting excited for. I made a special LOST dessert. For those who may not recognize it, it is the Dharma Initiative logo.

X is for X Box!

We do love the X Box. Well, I really just love Guitar Hero and Scene It but Nelson enjoys many other games (let's see how well I know his games)-GTA IV, Halo, Call of Duty, Assassins Creed. That is all I can remember, I will ask him and see what other ones he likes. He agrees and adds Lego Star Wars and Gears of War. But one thing I really appreciate is that he never plays to the exclusion of anything or anyone else. So, the X Box treats us very well!

W is for Weekends

Now that I work Monday through Friday, I have really come to appreciate the weekend. I look forward to usually getting a bite out to eat on Friday and not having to cook meal. And then just hanging out with Nelson, resting and relaxing that night. Usually on Saturday morning we sleep in a little bit (ok sometimes it is a lot) and then go to get a breakfast bite at either First Watch, Bread Co or Einsteins. I like to delay the getting breakfast part till as late as possible because breakfast is probably my least favorite meal of the day. So if I can hold out our leaving the house till about 10:30 (I have some really good stall tactics) then by the time we get there, order and then have our meal, it is past 11-after which is ok for me to eat lunch type foods. So then after that we just run errands, do some work outside, do some cleaning, laundry, maybe go to the grocery store, Lowes or something like that. Weekends are just so great, I love just spending time together!
Growing up we had some great weekend traditions, like my dad and I going to the recycling center together and me mowing the lawn, which he totally got the good end of the deal on that one. I think the best thing about weekends now is that I don't have to do homework anymore! That is a great feeling!!
Well, all that to say, I just really love the weekend!

What Indiana Jones can do for your family

We saw Indiana Jones this weekend and enjoyed it. But for this one father and son it was more than just a movie-
"I took my 12-year-old son who, having watched the previous three "Indy" movies multiple times on DVD and TV, is steeped in the Indy mythology. Watching his reaction to "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" on the big screen was like watching myself at "Raiders of the Lost Ark" when it first came out — laughing, cheering, amazed at the action, pulling for the good guys, booing the bad guys — having a ball of a good time as he joined the ride and became part of the adventure. I was there, right with him and Indy. ... When my son and I got home, he found an old leather jacket of mine as well as an old camping fedora. He put them on, came into the living room singing the Indy theme song. We ended up on the floor wrestling and laughing. ... We had a wonderful evening at wonderful movie!"

V is for Vacuum

I really enjoy vacuuming, especially with my relatively new Dyson. It is amazing, dirt really stands no chance against it. And I love that I can switch between carpet and bare floors. We have a good amount of hardwood in our house so I just switch it over to bare floor and watch the dirt disappear.

U is for Uprooting!

This morning while Nelson was at the deacon's retreat, I did a lot of digging. I took out pretty much all the old plants which was pretty hard but I did it. Then I planted new bushes in the bed by our house. I was pretty worn out by that time so I had some lunch and then Nelson came home and did some more digging and then we planted some new flowers. We tried to get some more peonies to match the one that already was planted but we looked three places and all were already out of them. So we moved the peony (not sure if it will work) and then planted some rose bushes. Now they just need to grow to be big!!
