We met at Covenant College, while on Mac Council together. Also, my roommate was dating his roommate and so that helped with the meeting process. Now they are married and we married too! that is fun!

baking and breakfast

I have been doing some baking over the past few days. First were
some brownies for our Kingdom Group on Wednesday. We had chocolate mint brownies (I cheated and used boxed mix for the brownie part but they were still delicious). Then yesterday, I got inspired by my latest Martha Stewart Living magazine and made some yellow butter cupcakes with peanut butter icing. I also really want to make chocolate chip cupcakes with chocolate chip icing, but that will have to be another weekend. And then today, we had crepes for lunch.
Those also came from my Martha Stewart Living magazine. I have never made them before, but they actually turned out well. And I even have to admit, that although we were having breakfast food for lunch (totally against all my beliefs), I liked them. Probably because I put things like peanut butter and nutella on them, but still, they were good. And I also have to admit that while eating them, I felt Stanley kicking around a lot more. I would like to attribute that to the sugar but Nelson thinks it is his way of telling us that he likes breakfast foods at all times of the day. In fact, Nelson said he was probably giving me a high five and was so thankful for the delicious tastes. I don't know that I would go that far...

a new hat

Today's high was somewhere in the low 20's and I needed to keep my head warm while out and about on errands! Good thing I had my hat that Steph made me for Christmas. I just wanted to say thanks again Steph for my hat!

a great trip to the dr.'s

we had a trip to the dr.'s office today. i have to say it was a little stressful at first because i had to coordinate my whole day around it! see, i had to do the screen for gestational diabetes and you have to drink glucose but you have to drink that an hour before your appointment and you can't have eaten less than two hours before that and also i had to have a full bladder for the ultrasound. but the timing of everything all worked out so that is good! and we had a great ultrasound, the lady saw everything she needed to and said it all looked good. we are very thankful! here are a few pics from today! oh and in case anyone is wondering about names- we are not going to say until he is born, but he does have a nickname- from my brother who knew he was going to be a boy all along- Stanley. my poor cheese-its!

At the grocery store, I am usually a sucker for things that are "new" like new flavors, new packaging, and just new products in general. This Saturday at the store was no different. I had on the list that we needed crackers and cheese-its sounded really good. So i saw that they had a new flavor- it was actually cheese-it duozs so it was two new flavors in one-that is almost too good to be true. so i was very excited about them and of course we got them. Well, last night i was in the mood for a snack and of course when I saw my cheese-its I knew I had to have those. So I got the box down from the top of the fridge and started enjoying my snack. but then out of no where and all of a sudden, i just dropped the box and all of the cheese-its went all over the floor.

i exclaimed "oh no!!!!!!!" and nelson called back from the basement in a worried voice "is everything ok up there, what is going on???" and so then I informed him it was my box of cheese-its and that they had all fallen all over the floor and he very kindly was sympathetic for me and then I asked him "do you think I can still eat them??" normally i would have still eaten them but when there is a baby inside of you, you tend to think twice about what you are putting in your mouth. Nelson agreed with me and we decided it would be better and safer for all to just get a new box of cheese-its. so I might need to take a trip up to the store sometime in the next few days.

the color blue

since I am always needing inspiration for my blog, I like to copy off of other people's blogs. this time i am copying off of Steph's blog and doing a color theme for a post each today. today's theme is the color blue. I am not much of an artsy photographer so my pics are not going to be as good as hers, but i figured that is ok. since today is blue day and nelson's favorite color is blue, i thought it would be all about him and the color blue as it relates to Nelson.

tasty dinner bite!

after a busy day full of errands, registering at Target and Baby's R Us, cleaning, taking down Christmas decorations, putting up new decorations etc, we were pretty tired and hungry. I had seen a delicious recipe on Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals (Rachel Ray is one of my least favorite food network hosts because her voice gets on my nerves but her recipes are usually pretty good), I thought it was just what we needed. So we enjoyed a great meal of Florentine Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken and salad (with extra olives added). We ate our meal on our new placemats that Nelson got me for Christmas. Now we are just relaxing this evening and catching up on a few shows we missed from this week!

rock star!

today I got a little package in the mail from a good friend Erin. I was excited to find a few surprises inside, one was a "hooter hider" to be used when nursing, the other was an awesome onsie (see pic below).



We figure that our little guy will indeed be a rock star for a few reasons:

a post about salad

i love salads, they are one of my favorite foods. many times, like Elaine on Seinfeld, I just really want a big salad (no this is not a pregnancy thing, i have always loved salad). A few years ago, when I was first dating Nelson, he introduced me to the Greek salad and the olive. I had never really had many olives or greek salads growing up I think because my parents do not like olives. ever since that first taste of the greek salad and the olive, my world has pretty much been changed forever (the fact that my world was changing could have had something more to do with the fact that I was dating Nelson but I am not sure if that would be giving the olive enough credit :) ). anyway, i learned of a new salad while we were in dallas and it involves both the green and black olive. lettuce, chopped red onion, green olives, black olives, diced banana peppers, feta or parmesean (or both) cheese, and italian dressing. fantastic. but the olive is actually a side note to the point of this post (I just had to give it credit though for changing my life). The real point is that my love of salad has now been taken to a new level because of my new salad spinner and lettuce knife. Nelson got me both of these for christmas and i used them both tonight. i was really feeling a salad and macaroni and cheese. so that is what we had (plus hot dogs for nelson). the lettuce was perfectly dried after a few twirls in the spinner and perfectly chopped after some swipes with my lettuce knife. so all of this to say, if you love salad and do not have a salad spinner or a lettuce knife, you need them both. Here is where you can get them-

just a little disappointing

so tonight we decided to get a sweet bite at Sonic. It usually treats us so well and we had a gift card thanks to Santa and a coupon for a free cream slush. So we went and I thought I would try the new junior sundae. Well, upon receiving my sundae, I was just a little bit disappointed. It was not a junior sundae but more like a baby sundae. It was so sad. i was going to offer a bite to nelson but then the whole thing would have been gone so i enjoyed the few bites of it myself. at least it tasted good!
