About a semester-we were on a dorm leadership council together and got to know each other through that

Nelson asked me out to coffee- we ended up staying and talking until the coffee shop closed

♥ How old are each of you?
Nelson is 26 and I am 26!

♥ Whose siblings do you see the most?
it is pretty equal but probably his a few more times a year

♥ Do you have any children together?
A son on the way

♥ What about pets?
no :(

♥ Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Alaska for our honeymoon

Yes, Covenant- that is where we met

♥ Are you from the same home town?
nope!

I think we are both smart in different areas

♥ Who is the most sensitive?
depends on what it is- Nelson is very sensitive towards others and their feelings, I am sensitive when it comes to watching Grey's Anatomy. so just different kinds of sensitive :)

♥ Where do you eat out most as a couple?
First Watch (a breakfast, brunch and lunch place)

neither of us

♥ Who does the cooking?
me!

me- although I have my limits

we both are neat

Emily for sure

neither, we both share pretty equally

Nelson by far. my alarm goes off at least 5 times in the morning before I muster up enough energy to get out of bed

Greyfriar's- a coffee shop in Chattanooga

♥ Who has the bigger family?
Nelson by far

♥ Do you get flowers often?
just the right amount- when I need them the most

♥ How do you spend the holidays?
We alternate between families for each holiday

♥ Who is more jealous?
probably me- I am not sure if I have ever known Nelson to be jealous of something/someone

♥ How long did it take to get serious?
a month or so

♥ Who eats more?
usually Nelson, but recently I've been giving him a run for his money (it's Stanley's fault :) )

♥ Who does the laundry?
me for sure!

♥ Who's better with the computer?
this is not even a fair question- Nelson builds computers, so him- hands down

♥ Who drives when you are together?
depends on whose car we take-we each drive our respective cars, we usually alternate whose car we take somewhere

another reason why I love my job

I get to interact a good amount with the students who are working on their master's and doctorate research projects in our research lab. We have a good time together, sometimes they turn into more of a distraction than anything, but it is still fun to get to know them. Today when I got to work, I found a little surprise on my desk. They are "fidget toys" that they had to make for another class but they modeled them after Nelson and me. They even gave Nelson a goatee!! I thought they were pretty cute and they pretty much have made my day!

Happy Valentine's Day

We did most of our celebrating on Friday but I managed to get a little more celebrating in this morning by bringing Nelson breakfast in bed. I wanted to try out some new recipes from the new cookbook Nelson got me, but I was afraid he would wake up before I got everything ready. So it was Bread Co instead. We also did some experimenting with his new camera with his breakfast being the main focus of the shots!

for the love of carrots-part II

I would just like to report that I still have about half a bag of carrots left from this week, and we even had a side of carrots with one of our meals this week. so while I enjoy them and eat a lot of them (usually with some salad dressing on top), this week I was able to show a little self control. Nelson needed to practice with his new camera (valentine's present) so my carrots and I were the subjects of some of his pics!

why i love my job

I love my job for lots of reasons, but one reason is that I love working with older adults. Today was a classic example of that. I usually go to different talks/programs that occur at the community center in the area where we are targeting our research study. At the talks, I share about our study and try to get people to enroll in the study. I went on Monday and went again today. I was standing at the door meeting and greeting people as they walked in. A lady who had been to the talk on Monday came in and I said hello and she immediately said to me "geeze, you are really ready to pop!" and I was kinda thrown off by that because most people ask me how far along I am and they are usually surprised that I am as far along as I am and say something along the line of "where's that baby?" etc. So anyway, back to the lady today. after I told her I have two and a half months left to go, she was kinda in disbelief but then proceeded to comment "well i am glad you really are pregnant because on Monday I just thought you were fat!" I laughed so hard and am still laughing right now as I am writing this. So that was pretty great and then when I was giving my little talk about the study I was introducing the other therapist that was with me and the lady who is in charge of billing/insurance for our clinical population. I said "and this is Shanell" and someone else piped up "I used have a pet skunk named Shanell" I started laughing so hard again and just kept thinking, "This is why I love old people."

for the love of carrots

I always knew I loved carrots but that became even more evident today when Nelson and I were making our list for Sam's. I was looking through the veggie drawer and realized I was out of carrots. So I added carrots to the list, thinking nothing of it. But then Nelson said "Wait a minute- didn't we get a 5lb bag of carrots at Sam's last week? and now it is all gone?!?" hmm...yes that is true. we did get a 5lb bag carrots, and it was gone as of about 5 p.m. on Friday night. and no we did not have any meals with carrots in them this week (except maybe one salad). I guess that means I ate them all.
