A New Vacuum

When we first got married we borrowed my mom's Hoover vacuum from when they first got married. It died on us and so we got a new vacuum. It has since started making terrible noises and not vacuuming so well so today we ordered a new vacuum! Nelson found a really good deal on a Dyson so we went for it. I have not vacuumed in about a week and now I am not going to vacuum until the new one gets here so that I can witness it's amazing power. I am even purposely throwing stuff on the ground so that I can suck it up later! I will let you know how it all goes when the new one comes!

Pockets and a Snap!

So I made another purse today (I gave the one from yesterday to my mom) and this time I put pockets on the inside and a magnetic snap for the top! Here it is!!

Well, class this morning was AWESOME! I loved it so much! I made a purse this morning but I didn't like the way she wanted to do the straps so I made another one this afternoon and I made my own strap so here it is! Let's just say I am little bit excited about it!

Sewing Class on Saturday

This coming Saturday I am officially taking my first sewing class! I am super excited! It is a basic sewing class where we are supposed to make a "fashion purse." I am guessing it is just a regular type purse but I am so excited to see how it turns out! A friend is taking it with me and we decided that if this goes well, we will open a business! Ok, maybe that is a little ambitious, but we will see! I am going tonight to get my fabric, I have no clue what I want! I might do a toile, but then that might be a little to typical for me. My friend is thinking about a brown exterior with hot pink interior. That is definitely a fashion purse! I can't copy but I might get close. . . we will see how I get inspired tonight at the store. And stay posted until Saturday- I will let you know how it turns out!

A Surprise Day Off!

I wasn't expecting to have today off so I was quite excited when I realized that I did in deed have it off! I still got up early and went to bootcamp, it was great, I really do enjoy it, in a weird twisted way. Then I came back home and got ready for the day. I went by Target and then to get a haircut! I have always been a big fan of Great Clips, it always treats me so well. I know that other people do not have such a good time there, but I have always had enjoyed it there and I can't argue with the price of the haircut. Anyway, then I went to the grocery store and over to my grandparents to hang out with them for a little bit. It was great to see them, now that I work full time I don't really get to see them as much. But it was pretty hilarious with my grandmother because I was wearing some new boots I got that have fur at the top. She thought they were so great, she really couldn't believe them. Well, she mostly couldn't understand them, and it didn't help that my grandfather was asking if I mugged an Eskimo to get them. But then my grandmother kept talking about how I was so beautiful and wonderful (she has Alzheimer's by the way) and that she had to give me something. The last time she tried to give me something it was a $20 bill which was sweet but of course I gave it back. That's like taking candy from a baby. So today when she said she wanted to give me something, I got pretty pumped. She went out to the kitchen and came back with a roll of paper towels! She asked me how I would like one for those and of course I was so excited. Some paper towels! Sweet! So she asked me how many I would like, I just took three, I figured that was a good number. Then I tucked them away in my sweatshirt pocket for safekeeping. I am pretty sure I am not going to use them for anything, I will just save them for as a keepsake. I am waiting now for Nelson to get home from work, and we will head out for a late lunch together! Yeah for days off!

Sunday Afternoons

I love Sunday afternoons of napping and watching some football. We are watching Green Bay and the Giants now, it is a negative 1 degree and the wind chill is negative 23!! Unbelievable!! But it is so nice to have some time to relax and recharge before the working week. Then at 7 we watch the Amazing Race and tonight is exciting because it is the season finale. We really want TK and Rachel to win so we will see. We were so glad that Nate and Jen finally got off, they were so annoying and had a terrible relationship! It would be pretty sweet to be on the Race but highly unlikely. So for now, we will just enjoy it from our living room!

a little something for Nelson!

So for the past 2 and a half years (the whole time that we have been married) I have been in grad school doing lots of studying, reading, test taking, fieldworking, etc. Nelson has been so supportive and so I wanted to do something to show him my appreciation for all that he has done for me. I think the pictures tell the story pretty well!

bootcamp

So I decided to sign up for bootcamp at the Y. It started last Monday and is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It was pretty much hell for the first few days but now I have really come to enjoy it. It actually makes working out fun. There are some really nice people in my class who are very encouraging and besides the really hard things that we do we do some fun things too, like getting out the basketballs and doing layups (which I have to say, I definitely dominated because the majority of people can't dribble and walk at the same time), sprinting up and back with the basketball, and even some football type "fast feet." I enjoy it so much that when my alarm goes off at 5:30 in the morning, I almost hop out of bed, excited to see what the class will have in store! So if you are needing a boost in your workout, give a bootcamp a try. You won't regret it!

First Day of the Rest of My Life!

Well, today is officially the first day of the rest of my life- I started working. I am officially gainfully employed. It is a little weird, I am not sure how I feel quite yet but at least it is already Friday so I only have to go to one day of work this week and then I can take the weekend to get used to the idea. I told my boss that this whole thing is a little weird to me but she just laughed so I didn't get much sympathy there! Oh well! I am sure it will all be ok.

A New Car for Nelson!

Well, the time has come, we have officially made our first big purchase as a couple, a new (well used) car for Nelson! His old car was giving him lots of trouble and was going to be costing us a lot to maintain so we decided, after doing quite a bit of research, to make the plunge and get him a new car! We had an excellent experience at the dealer and today, at around 3:45 p.m., we closed the deal on a 2007 Nissan Altima! Here are some pics of the sweet new ride.

A Delicious Dinner (if I do say so myself)

Well, I was really in the mood for some home made chicken noodle soup. So I made some. And I found a really good recipe for dinner rolls to go along side it. It was a perfect meal for a cold New Years Day! Here is a little glimpse of a delicious dinner!
