Birmingham

We had the itch to go somewhere but did not want to spend a lot of money, needed to be able to drive in one day (after Nelson got off work) so we did not have to take many vacation days, and mostly needed to see James and Steph since we had not seen them in a while. So we checked out schedules and found out that last weekend was basically one of the only weekends that would work for a long time. So we went for it. The drive down included a lot of road construction, some terrible rain and then the best part- stopping on the highway for about an hour (car turned off) only about 25 miles from their house. Oh, did i mention this was at 9:30 at night an Tripp decided sleeping in the car was not a good idea (no afternoon nap and no bedtime sleeping)? We ended up getting in around 10:45 only to have Tripp wake up before 6 the next morning. So I am pretty sure we win the award for best sister and brother-in-law and actually, as crazy as the drive was, Tripp was great, even basically slap happy by the end. Our conversations were going like this:
T: "mommy, i can say something, you can laugh at me ok?"
E: "umm...ok."
T: "Percy is green..HA...HA...HA! Now you laugh ok?"
E: "oh right, hahahaha."

Yeah, it was awesome.

Anyway, we were so glad to be in Birmingham that the car ride did not matter. We just had a great time hanging out, eating some delicious meals and relaxing. It was my kind of weekend! Too bad it does not happen more often.
