Officially Official

So now I really am official. I got my license today so now I am an official OTR/L!!!

Diploma

I got my diploma in the mail the other day! So combine that with passing my exam and I'd say I am feeling pretty official!

One of those days. . .

Today is one of those days that I just really want to be at home, all snuggled up with a blanket and some hot chocolate, watching some Gilmore Girls and sewing something on my sewing machine. Instead, I had to go to work in the treacherous sleet and freezing rain (I guess those are pretty much the same thing, but it added something to say it again). But since I have to be here, at least I get to work on something fun. I am currently making and editing a training video for our assessment that we use for the in-home program. We video taped probably the cutest old lady out there and so at least I get to watch her and laugh at all her funny sayings. But still, I would much rather be hanging out with Lorelai and Rory right now.

A Great Weekend!

We flew to Dallas this weekend for a surprise visit! It worked perfectly! First we surprised Ginny on Friday night- she was spending the night with Winsor and Phil and Phil said he wanted to take them on a surprise adventure. So he blind folded Winsor and Gin (even though Winsor already knew what was going on) and took them out to the car for their adventure. To throw them off, he stopped at the gas station and bought some snacks-pork rinds, mini muffins, drinks, smoothies, etc. so they both had to eat some of those and then they kept driving. They came to the airport and circled around one time before we came out. They came around again and we saw them, Gin was in the front seat and Winsor in the middle in the back. So we both jumped in the side doors and said "surprise" and Ginny took off her blindfold and there we were! It was great! We went back to Winsor and Phil's to sleep and then we had our surprise for Mom and Pops the next morning. After not too many hours of sleep (we stayed up late playing Guitar Hero) we woke up and went to Orig (what the locals call Original Pancake House) and we sat at a table a little bit around a corner. So Nelson and I sat at the table while Winsor and Gin sat waiting for Mom and Pops (Phil had to go into work for a little bit so he couldn't come). So they said to the host guy that there was just four (he was in on it too) and so then he came and sat them at our table! and there we were!! Everyone was so surprised, it was great!! We had a great time together and then flew back early this morning to St. Louis. I got into work at the right time, Nelson a little bit later than normal because he usually gets in around 6:30. But it was a great weekend and the surprises were great!!

Well, I found out yesterday that I passed my boards! Thank you to everyone who prayed for me! I really appreciate it!!

sad time at the fabric store

Well, I went by my new favorite fabric store here in St. Louis, Jackman's. They have two locations, one that is pretty close by where we live, one that is not as close. Well, when I got the fabric for my tote, I was at the one that is not as close because it is closer to work and I had stopped by there on my way home one time. So I went to the one close by our apt today to find the fabric and thread I need for the tote and they did not have it. I was very sad. So I called Nelson and told him of my very sad news. He said, no problem, we can go to the other one tonight. However, the other one closed at 6 so I said I would hurry home and then we could go after that. Well, I did not get to hurry home. I was making great timing on Olive (for those of you not from St. Louis reading this, it is a big four lane + turn lane road) to get to 170 and then home. Well, I got on 170 and was heading to the Brentwood exit. and it was very backed up so I decided I would go on 170 to Eager and go around that way. Well, then I didn't get over enough lanes to get onto Eager so then it put me on to 40 heading east (not the direction I need to go). So I got off on Hanley only to realize that I was not going the right direction on Hanley either. So then I needed to turn around. I pulled in the gas station to turn around and realized, wow, I am really thristy and since this trip home is now taking forever, I better stop in and get a drink. So I did (and I got some gum too). Then I headed the right way on Hanley only to get about halfway to wear I needed to turn and the turn line was backed up a few blocks. So I hung out drinking my drank for a while and then finally got to turn and then eventually made it home. All the while my phone had died so I couldn't call Nelson to tell him why my supposed to be 15 min drive home turned into a 45 min one and that we didn't have enough time to get to the fabric store. I am sure he was so disappointed that we couldn't go. I was sad but maybe I will stop by tomorrow after work when I am a little closer to begin with. That way, if I get turned around so much again, I will hopefully still have enough time to get there before it closes. Maybe I need to leave work early for this one. Until then, still no sewing :(

Pinking Shears!!

For a little Valentine's Day present, my mom got me some pinking shears! I am so excited so that now I can cut my fabric and it won't unravel! Yeah! Now I just need to get my extra fabric so I can finish my tote bag. (if you happened to read this post before about 10 p.m. you might have noticed that I said ravel instead of unravel, apparently that is not a word. Nelson found that one for me. In fact, he even related it to the Office, so it made me feel better. Michael- "We don't have any disgruntled people here, they are very gruntled."
