Happy First Birthday, Tripp

what a day. Tripp is one. it truly is hard to believe. i know it is cliche, but man, this year really flew by fast. it has been the hardest and best year of our lives to date. this little guy brings us so much joy and laughter- it physically hurts me sometimes to think about how much i love him. my heart actually aches. it also is really hard to be a mom sometimes. especially when feelings of selfishness take over. that is definitely my biggest struggle thus far as a mom. but it has been a great year, one that i wouldn't trade for anything! we celebrated by going to bread co for breakfast, nonny's house during the day, the custard station and a haircut, then a walk and some reading. and the real celebrating will continue this weekend when james and steph get here.

Swimming!

We signed Tripp up for swimming at the Y a while ago and he went one time but didn't really have the best of times. We were going to keep going but then he got really sick and we went out of town so we would have pretty much missed the rest of the class. So we transferred to the class that started today. He had an absolute blast, which we were so thankful for! We blew bubbles, jumped off the wall, went down the slide and sang lots of songs! It was a great morning!

Tripp's new game

Tripp's uncle James gave him a wiffle ball while we were in Birmingham. To say Tripp loves it would be an understatement. He would probably take it to bed if we let him. His new favorite game with it is to roll it under the chair/couch and watch it roll away, crawl to the other side, get it and roll it back. So last night Nelson and I would roll it between each other, under the chair and Tripp would lay on his belly and just watch under the chair as the ball went back and forth. It is pretty much impossible to get a picture of something underneath a chair because the camera basically wouldn't focus. but if you look carefully, you can see a blurry little boy and his dad enjoying the wiffle ball (you can also see a lot of dust, but we won't worry about that).

The Salty Ham

Or as normal people call it, Birmingham. We just got back from a mini-vacation in Birmingham with my brother and sister-in-law. It was a great time. A fantastic time in fact. As soon as we got home, we were so bored with ourselves without them around. Steph has all the pics on her camera, including some awesome ones from our photo shoot with Tripp at the botanical gardens (but here is one for you to preview). So after she edits them and sends them along, I will post them (yes, that was some passive-aggressive pressure for you to get to those pictures done quickly Steph). I do have a few pics from Tripp in the park, and you can see his teeth (he has 4 through and 2 more on the way now)! Thanks for an awesome time guys!!

teeth!!

Tripp's teeth are finally coming in (an early birthday present I think)! The two on the bottom have broken through and the top two are almost there. He has pretty much been his happy self, although there have been a few days when the Tylenol has come in very handy. With Nelson's valiant help, I tried to take some pics of his teeth today. While that turned out to not be very successful, I did get a few great pics:

Easter Weekend 2010

We had a great time in Dallas this weekend celebrating Easter with Nelson's family.

We celebrated both NBS, Sr and NBS, III's bdays (since we will not all be together for both of them)




We had a great time on the boat (including Tripp learning to fish and Weston learning to repel)

and Tripp played with the dogs, bubbles, and the world's best drawer full of tupperware
