Of course the highlight for my dad was getting his present. He was very good and waited through the meal before opening (he is much like a little kid when it comes to presents, he has a perpetual list that is on the fridge year round just waiting for any holiday that might warrant a gift and he does not like to wait when it comes to opening gifts). My mom, James and Steph, and Nelson and I went in to get him some sweet sunglasses that he has been wanting. According to him they are very cool and will help him to be a better runner. He said his old pair was just no good; in fact, yesterday, he was running with them and he was so mad at them he just took them off and said (in his words) "heck with these!" So it was time for a new pair. Here is what the box claims about these sunglasses (parenthesis mine):
"A revolutionary approach to running eyewear, this ultra lightweight sunglass features unique air flow technology that funnels air throughout the sunglasses, minimizing wind resistance (was this really a problem with sunglasses causing so much drag??) and maximizing the quality of your run (that is a big claim for sunglasses, what if you just really aren't good at running, will sunglasses really make that much of a difference? Apparently these will). Streaker's rachet temple design (none of us were sure what that meant but my dad reassured us that was important) and Anti-Bounce Bridge combine for unsurpassed fit and stability, whether you are on the street, trail or course (sometimes my dad runs on a track-how will they hold up there?)" Wow, those are some impressive sunglasses. Well, here he is with the new sunglasses.

And the new sunglasses were so great and the old ones so bad that he immediately said "heck with them" again and threw them into the trash.
